Kasetsart University in cooperation with Kasetsart University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage organized the “80th KU Run”, the walk and run project in Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Kasetsart University, to raise funds for building the Kasetsart Hospital. The activity was held on 15 January 2023, simultaneously on all campuses and networking provinces of Kasetsart University’s alumni across the country. The starting point for running of Sriracha Campus was in front of the swimming pool building (building no. 20).
During the opening ceremony, the vice president for Sriracha Campus, Asst. Prof. Seri Koonjaenak, delivered the opening remarks by introducing background of this project. After that the president of Kasetsart University, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, delivered the welcoming remarks. Then, Miss. Sopawan Mongkolthanmakul, the president of Kasetsart University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage, reported the objectives of the project. And, finally, Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, the chairman of the ceremony, delivered the opening remarks to open the event.
The total running distance was 4.8 kilometres. A highlight of the Sriracha Campus (KU Run @ Sriracha) was a route up the mountain. Moreover, there were also 3 special activities consisting of “Check-in at Million Dollar View” by running up to Khao Nam Sap Mountain, the new nature trail of Sriracha Campus, “Fancy Runners” that the runners had dressed in fancy dresses to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Kasetsart University, and “You are a memory” that the runners had to take a photo and check in at each point following the KU-shaped jigsaw puzzle while sticking hashtag #KURUNSriracha to win the special prize.
The main objectives of this walk and run activity were to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Kasetsart University, to raise funds for establishing the Faculty of Medicine and building the Kasetsart University Hospital, to show the unity of Kasetsart University’s alumni, current students, and staff, and to raise awareness among the people and society on the importance of exercise and good health.
